FAQs

I do not take insurance. However, that doesn’t mean my services aren’t affordable. I am able to offer service that is both high-quality and affordable by avoiding the often-onerous requirements from external insurers that cover only a part of the fees I charge. However, for those patients who do wish to combine their insurance with my affordable rates, most insurance providers allow their customers to see practitioners who are out-of-network for a partial reimbursement. If you have any questions about whether your insurer allows this, you should contact them directly.

I will be happy to go over specifics over the phone or in-person. Broadly speaking, I offer both a fee-for-service model in which payment is due for each session and also a monthly subscription that includes up to 5 therapy sessions each month. I take cash, checks, all major credit cards, and Venmo.

Please contact me through this website, email (info@safespace-therapy.com), or by phone at (424) 339-2385. All messages (email or phone) are received and read directly (and only) by Harjeet.

Teletherapy is every bit as effective as more traditional forms of therapy. Ideally, we will meet in person for your first session so that we can get to know each other and to discuss payment  arrangements, scheduling, and other matters. As Morgan, Patrick, and Magaletta (2008) said in a study of the effectiveness of teletherapy, "To date studies are showing that video-based are as effective as face-to-face services" (Barak et al., 2008; Folen at al., 2010).

Studies have also shown no differences between telephone-delivered psychotherapy and face-to-face delivery in the perception of the therapeutic relationship, post-session mood, or general satisfaction with services" (Morgan, Patrick, & Magaletta, 2008).

These sessions will be conducted over video chat using Zoom, Facebook video calls, or any other platform that is acceptable to the client and the therapist and which offers the expected level of security for private information. If anything, that makes life easier because scheduling problems, lengthy commutes, and other issues become irrelevant.
